St. John's "Marietta"

Ice Cream Social

Deacon Nancy Rementer September 01, 2011

Hurricane Irene did not dampen the spirit of giving on Saturday August 27th.

As the wind and rain began to sweep through Marietta, serveral brave townspeople and fellow parishoners came through the doors af St. John's Parish Hall with bags of groceries to get a "free" bowl of ice cream!

We had a "hurricane party" and no one left without as much ice cream and toppings as they could eat. We collected $68.25 in cash donations and approximately 150 lbs. of food that has been given to the East Donegal-Conoy Christian Food Bank. The Food Bank serves the local community, including Marietta, Maytown, Bainbridge and the hamlets in between.

Thank you to all who donated their time to serve ice cream and those who braved the wind and rain to bring food for our neighbors.

Thank you!  Thank you! Thank you!
