Some Questions and Answers

Where do I park?
Street parking is available on East Market and Chestnut Streets. We do not have a parking lot.
What should I wear?
Come must as you are. We are pretty informal. Most parishioners are comfortable in casual wear although some prefer more formal dress.
Where should I sit?
You may sit anywhere. If you have special needs, for example you need communion brought to you, the ushers can help you.  Restrooms are located on the lower level.
What about children?
Children are welcome to attend and participate in all of our services. Activity packs are available in the back of the church. School age children attend Sunday school during the first part of the service.
What if I am not an Episcopalian?
Many of our members and guests who visit Saint John’s come from other faith traditions, and all are welcome and encouraged to participate. You will be given a service bulletin as you enter.  You will find everything you need in the bulletin, which you are encouraged to take with you after the service. All are invited to share Communion at God’s Table.  An usher will guide you.
If you would like to learn more about the Episcopal Church, our priest will be happy to speak with you.
How long is your service?
Typically, Sunday worship services are about 65 minutes long, our weekday service runs 30 minutes.
What about adults and children* with special needs?
We understand children have a wide range of needs, and we hope to provide a safe place where every child, including those with different abilities, can grow in faith.  Our special needs young people are actively involved in the church service
We Share is a support program for special need persons and their families which we provide for the community.
What if I have dietary restrictions, mobility or visual needs?
Alcohol: Our wine contains alcohol. If, for any reason, you would rather not receive the wine, please just cross your arms across your chest. Usually the chalice-bearer will stop and say “The Blood of Christ” but will know to then move on.
Mobility: There is a lift in the lower level of the church (accessed through the Chestnut Street entrance) and ramps for accessibility.
Visual assistance: Large print bulletins with the entire service are provided for everyone. Ushers will also be happy to help you to your seat and assist you in getting to communion.
