Welcome to St John's Parish

The Reverend Martha AmbroseThe Reverend Martha Ambrose, Rector

Martha is excited to be part of the St. John's family!
Martha grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and will always feel a close connection with the Blue Ridge Mountains. She loves to read (cozy mysteries, classic literature, and just about everything else if she has time), crochet, bake, and go on bike rides and hikes.
Martha obtained her undergraduate degree from Milligan College, now Milligan University, outside of Johnson City, TN. Her bachelor's degree is in Psychology, with minors in Theater Arts and Bible. At the time, Martha was part of the United Methodist Church and began their ordination process and attended Seminary at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. After graduating with her Master of Divinity and Master of Theological Studies, Martha served as a UMC Pastor for three years. While the United Methodist Church is still a wonderful part of the body of Christ, Martha discerned her own spiritual journey was leading her to the Episcopal Church. Martha was ordained as a Deacon on the Feast of Priscilla and Aquilla: Co-Workers of the Apostle Paul (July 8th). Martha was ordained to the priesthood on the Feast of Scholastica of Nursia (February 10th).
Martha resides just across the river in York, with her husband, Grant, and daughter, Alice.
